Why Prostitution Should Not Be Legalized.

SUMMARY: Imagine a thirteen-year-old beaten with a look of death in her eyes as she stares you in the face willing to perform any sexual act that you ask her to do. “The average age of entry into prostitution is 13 years” (Farley 3). Many prostitutes begin at an early age and die before they reach middle age. “The prostitute is a victim of every bad thing men do to women: physical and sexual abuse, economic oppression and abandonment” (Farley 2). Prostitution should not be legalized because it hurts the prostitute, the john, the pimp, and the community. This essay will define prostitution, portray the violence of prostitution, and conclude with the cost of prostitution to the society. Prostitution harms every one involved stemming from the prostitute to society. Prostitution should not be legalized. In fact, it needs to be stopped!
