This paper focuses on the importance of the Thames River to the University of Western Ontario. The paper explores the historical relationship of the Thames to the school - and to the area - and also looks at the River's contribution to one of Western's proudest athletic legacies: it's rowing program. Beyond that, the paper explores the continuing importance of the river to the school today and suggests that despite its occasional temper, the Thames is an important part of London - and of UWO.
