The Meaning of Caste and Gender in Hindu Traditions
This paper explores the distinctions made between males and females within Hindu society. The theme of social order within Hinduism is deeply rooted within Hindu traditions, and social order is extended to gender. Through exploring the treatment of males and females, it can be seen that males are more valuable to Hindu society than are females, and thus are rewarded with a higher status.
