The Gospel of Luke.

The Gospel of Luke, the third of the four Gospels in the New Testament, tells the story of Jesus' life, death, and of his resurrection. While the text of the Gospel does not directly name the author, traditional wisdom has it that it was written by Luke, who was a follower of Paul, the Author of the Acts of the Apostles. The author indicates that while he was not a direct witness to Jesus' life, he is a chronicler of all that had been written and said about Him and created a narrative of the facts of His life (Luke 1:1-4). The Gospel of Luke focuses intently upon the actual historic order of events from the birth of John and the future coming of Jesus Christ in prophecy. Spiritually, the Gospel of Luke focuses intently upon the concept of the suffering Savior and of the saintly life, and of tolerance (mercy). It is the purpose of this paper to explore the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament and to observe his instructions on suffering and mercy.
