The Influence of Women on the Evolution of Modern Computing: Ada Lovelace and the Women of ENIAC
This paper examines the role that women have played during the past two hundred years to advance the science of computing. Specifically, the paper discusses two examples of the significant contributions that women have made to the field, demonstrating the importance of both. The first is of Ada Lovelace who pioneered computer programming in the early 19th century. The second is the women of the Army's ENIAC project during WWII, which significantly advanced electronic computer programming.
