Spirituality Research Project: The Influence of Diversity Among Social Work Students
This paper shall describe a research study whose intention it was to determine if the life experiences of social work students have permitted them to have significant experiences with individuals of diverse ethnic, racial, or spiritual backgrounds. If so, then at what point in life did this occur and what ethical implications might there be for these students when they eventually practice what they have learned in the field? Analysis of the collected data in this regard indicated that most individuals surveyed were of European/American descent and maintained inclusive roles within this community. Attitudes towards diversity tended to be liberal and humanist, though there was little opportunity to put these beliefs into practice.
