This paper discusses human nature in terms of two stories, one that of Catherine Genovese, whose murder was witnessed by dozens of people who did not even call the police; and a bus accident with a bus full of deaf children and the people who stopped to help them. These stories show different aspects of human nature and raise questions about how we decide what human nature is.
