The Modern European Mind, British Television, The East Enders, and Racial Marginalization
This paper discusses the arrival of European existentialism after WWI and how this despairing approach led to a failure to address racial typecasting on British television simply because existentialism - as defined by Bettis -acknowledges that evil, wrongdoing, and intolerance are ineradicable. On a show like East Enders, very little effort went into changing intolerant social views until quite recently.
