In Support of the Use of Investigational Drugs

The field of medicine is changing rapidly, thanks in part to the use of investigational drugs. New treatments are being discovered, enhancing the quality of patientÂ’s lives as well as increasing their chances for survival when confronted with terminal illnesses. Thanks to investigational drugs, pharmaceutical companies are able to make great leaps in treatments and cures, giving patients options they never would have otherwise. With this knowledge, it may be somewhat surprising that some are opposed to the idea of the use of investigational drugs. This paper will discuss the valid concern these opponents have in the ethics behind human testing, but in the end, find that the choice otherwise, is simply unacceptable.
