This three-page undergraduate paper examines the troubling shortage of nurses, clinical laboratory scientists, cardiopulmonary technologists, radiological technologists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and other types of allied health professionals, and analyzes how these shortages have affected the author and the authors community. The paper concludes that shortages can be addressed by improving working conditions for nurses and paying them better, by reducing the costs of medical training, and by instituting medical malpractice reforms.
