Charting the Relationship Between Abuse, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, & Group B Streptococcus
This paper answers a series of questions - which are not provided - on the format of the following research study. Assessment of a correlation between sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs) and abuse within women was conducted through measuring the quality of health for women during prenatal visits to physicians and midwives. Using the Childbearing Health Questionnaire, the data sets of 205 women who had given birth within the previous eighteen months were examined. Results demonstrate a statistically higher prevalence in delaying access to prenatal care, increased frequency of STDs, and a disproportionably high prevalence of STDs among minority women. Reform strategies in health care are needed, specifically within the early detection of correlates which might indicate abuse.
