The transformation of the health care system offers both remarkable opportunities and redoubtable risks. What once was a localized system of health care provided by company (on-the-job) physicians, has become a national industry of health-care providers linked by insurance agencies and umbrella medical organizations that oversee the totality of medical service provision.
