This paper discusses airlines and labor disputes. Almost every year the threat of airline strikes seem to happen. "In January, the airline industry faced the prospect of strikes at four of the country's largest carriers. Since the 1930's, labor disputes in the industry have fallen under the Railway Labor Act, which empowered the National Mediation Board to try to resolve disputes between management and labor while minimizing the disruption of air service" (Zuckerman 1). Airlines on strike have an effect on the public. Why should President Bush take action to stop the airlines from striking? What laws are there to allow the president to take action? What will happen to the people who have made their reservations, but will not be able to fly because of strikes?
