This paper looks at the concepts of regionalism and globalisation and their relation to the development of the European Union. It is argued that, while regionalism has been the guiding force behind the establishment and growth of the EU, it is ultimately a process, a stepping stone if you will, towards broader globalisation. 5 pgs.
