This paper discusses the way the Chinese renminbi is valued and calls for a revaluation by the United States and others, asking that the renminbi be allowed to float, while others believe the currency should remain pegged to the dollar and that to do otherwise would be dangerous to China and to countries dealing with China, though the issue is unsettled and it is believed that the current situation should be maintained for now.
