This paper responds to a number of readings on Lizzie Borden and the murder for which she was tried, asking how we know what we know about Lizzie and considering newspaper accounts from the time and the way they reflect the points of view of the community and through interviews of Lissie and her Sister, who were ostracized by the community even though Lizzie was found Not Guilty at trial.
