This paper will compare Philip Kuhn, Soul stealers: "The Chinese Sorcery Scare of 1768" and Jonathan Spence's book "Treason by the Book". By comparing these two novels, we can get a better understanding of how the authors are intending their purpose on a historical subject. By revealing the nature of the author's opinion on the histories presented, we can how these two books compare with each other in the scope of historical premise in writing. 4 pgs.
