Media Ethics -Should Justice Department Investigators Seek to Subpoena the Journalists who know the Identity of the Officials Who Recently Revealed the Name of a CIA Operative
Typically, journalistic sources are afforded utmost confidentiality. However, sometimes ethics dictates that a source should be revealed. This paper explores the issue of whether Justice Department investigators should seek to subpoena the journalists who know the identity of the two senior administration officials who recently revealed the name of a CIA operative by examining three ethics theories: utilitarianism, moral rights, and virtue ethics.
