Within this assignment, I have written a story about a young black girl trying to deal with some of the harsh social realities she encounters within an all white school. The story covers the relationship between Shana and Charlene, two childhood friends who are eventually torn apart by the ugly characteristics of racism. I also bring in the ways Shana's family helps her to cope with her personal tragedies.
