This paper discusses the issue of gender equality in Canada. While it notes that many measures have been implemented that have narrowed the gender gap, the paper contends that inequality still exists because it is rooted within the societal institutions themselves. As a result, feminist issues are used by governments and political parties for political expediency, since women are given certain freedoms and advantages within the boundaries of their marginalization. 18 pgs.
