This paper explores the logistical support and planning behind the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. We will outline the major logistical challenges and complications posed by the environment, natives, climate and design of one of the largest private construction projects ever attempted, and discuss the measures taken to both avoid problems, and remedy those that could not be (or were not) avoided.
