The Sooke Region Museum faces many problems. The museum and its exhibits are somewhat dilapidated, to the extent that the building is suspected of not being entirely safe. In addition, there is insufficient storage space for artifacts. There are limited funds to pay for the substantial renovations that are needed. Another problem is that in the nearest large city, Victoria, there is little awareness of the museum.
