The paper is structured such that a handful of practical indicators to measure environmental sustainability are identified on the basis of a few selected criteria. These indicators are then applied to the present day scenario in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) to assess whether they are environmentally sustainable levels. Finally, practical options are suggested.
