This paper tries to clarify what art means. By examining Monet's London pictures, we must concentrate not only on the meaning of atmosphere, but also the form it takes in the painting. Yes, Monet tried to represent nature, and in doing this, he showed many different atmospheric effects. At the same time, we must allow the form of the painting to move us, rather than its supposed social and political implications. 6 pgs. 6 f/c. 3b.
