This three page undergraduate paper examines why jazz music, radio, and vaudeville were vitally important elements of American popular culture in the first half of the twentieth-century. Popular music and radio entertainment increased in cultural and social importance during these years, especially during the Great Depression, as Americans sought refuge from the trials of everyday life.
