This paper provides two exploratory essays into labor during the time of the two critical periods in American history. The first essay identifies the conditions under which an educator would have lived and worked during the American Revolution. The second essay identifies the conditions under which an artisan would have lived and worked during the Industrial Revolution. These essays help demonstrate the dramatic changes which impacted labor during these critical periods.
