This five-page graduate level research paper examines the challenges facing the United States Coast Guard as the twenty first century unfolds. The author notes that the USCG will face many challenges, especially in implementing its Deep Water Project, Coast Guard Innovation Project, and Future Force 21 initiatives, for like any new programs, they will take time to implement, will require additional government funding, and cannot be expected to function as well in actual practice as in theory.
