A History of Long Island: Studying the Past and the Present of the Land
The history of Long Island is remarkable, and the impact of the Long Island Sound upon the development of the recognizable, more recent landscapes of the New York coastline has been profound. This paper shall briefly survey the development of Long Island and the cultivation of this land for settlement as a means of demonstrating the impact which Long Island has had upon the present status of New York City.
