Southern Legal Codes Discriminating Against African Americans
This twenty-three page undergraduate paper examines the consequences of racist legal codes in the South in the decades after the Civil War. The author discusses how these codes betrayed the promises of freedom and equality Southern blacks had been given, examines the reasons these codes were established by Southern whites, and analyzes the affect they had on Southern blacks.
