This paper is a research prospectus that considers the murder of Emmett Till in 1955. The aim of the paper is to propose a research arc that will examine a particular aspect of the case. This proposal considers the impact the Emmett Till case had on subsequent acts of resistance, particularly the civil rights movement and African American literature. A brief outline of the proposed project is included along with an extensive annotated bibliography.
