This paper examines the similar ideological threads that run between the work of Booker T. Washington and the later work done by the Black Panthers duing the Black Power Movement. In both, we can see evidence of an interest in improving the economic quality of life of the African American community. While the Black Panthers may have seemed to have more in common with the radical ideologies of W.E.B. Du Bois, they nevertheless owed much to Washington.
