In the context of the literature and the historical application of birth control, the saying "politics is a man*s game" is extremely appropriate. After the invention of available and reliable chemical birth controls in the 1960s, there was a significant opportunity to redefine politics in a manner which disregarded gender and created a context in which males and females were equal participants. And to a significant degree, this came to pass. By the end of the Twentieth century, women had entered politics in record numbers, and in turn helped to ensure participation in the power structure of the United States.
